When was the last time you did something just for yourself? In my hypnotherapy practice, I find that many people tend to put themselves last, so much so, that eventually they end up feeling depressed or resentful, or even become physically ill.
Especially if you are the hub of a family, or in an important job, you owe it to yourself and those around you to care for yourself – and be first once in a while. If you are not healthy and happy, how can you ensure those around you are? When you take time to do things that make you feel good, it nurtures your body and sends a message to your mind that you are important. Over time, this helps to keep you centered and healthy.
Self-care doesn’t need to be a big thing like a vacation. In fact, the more you build in small experiences throughout your week, the better off you’ll be at handling whatever comes your way. Think about walking outside at lunch, reading a book for ½ hour each day, or buying yourself flowers or really nice fruit on a regular basis. Schedule a regular massage, facial, or body treatment, or work with a hypnotherapist to learn ways to handle stress, eliminate an undesirable habit, or improve your own ability to nurture yourself. There is no one more important than you.
February is the perfect month to start. You can use the traditional holiday of love as an opportunity to begin giving yourself regular pampering experiences. Do something symbolic like sending yourself a Valentine ’s Day card and then schedule something you really would like to do – something just for you. Consider helping all those close to you who experience this same issue to do the same. What better time to give yourself or someone you love the message of love and especially self-love.
Balance Point Spa offers many perfect pampering experiences for couples and individuals. We also offer discounts on a series of massages, facials, body treatments, or hypnotherapy, so you can get yourself on a regular schedule of self-care.
